Wrestling is no longer a fun job, but rather a more emotionally and physically painful occupation than ever before. The wrestler wrestle week after week unless they suffer from a  major injury .
And believe me they always get some minor injury or they hurt themselves in every matches .
And too sum this up they do take pain killers because if they don't do it , they would not be able to deliver themselves in the matches .

Been watching pro wrestling since 84'.

This was a common practice in the 80's and 90's. Now it's not as prevalent due to the WWEs Wellness Policy. Here's a shoot interview with Kevin Nash. It gets interesting at around 5:30.

Trains, says prayers, eats vitamins, but doesn't believe in himself.

I don't know if guys take them before or after their matches, but yes, a large number of wrestlers abuse painkillers.

A lot also take aspirin before their match if they know they are going to bleed before it. It helps thin the blood out so that more flows from a wound.
